European Glass & Bead Co. imports and sells wholesale beads, toggles and clasps, costume jewelry such as pendants and charms, and other related items. We are best known for high-quality Venetian glass beads, Thai silver bead sets with marcasite, and unique beads and products set with Swarovski crystal - such as rondelle beads and squaredelle beads, which spawned many copy cats. Today it operates under the name Fancy Beads.

Founder Andy Magisano began with just a tackle box of beads, pounding the pavement of Minneapolis in the early 1990s, and has grown the business to deliver several full lines of unique and exquisite wholesale beads from around the world, to bead stores throughout the US. Today, thanks to Andy's commitment to sourcing consistent, quality products and to the ease of ordering via the Internet, Fancy Beads maintains relationships with bead stores and designers in all 50 states.

Bead Trunk Shows

In addition to filling regular store inventory, Fancy Beads works with bead stores to offer trunk shows. Typically, a collection of vintage, discontinued and small batch inventory - including some the most beautiful fancy Murano glass beads - is offered on consignment. Where to Find Us

FancyBeads.com and EuropeanGlassandBead.com are the same web site. The business is located in Columbus, Ohio. It operates from a warehouse, which is closed to the public, but available by appointment to bead store owners and other wholesale bead buyers, who will spend at least $150.

Every year, Fancy Beads and European Glass and Bead participate in the Gem Mall at the Tucson Gem and Jewelry show. It's a great opportunity to put faces with names throughout the supply chain, to catch up with life-long industry friends, and to experience the beautiful silver and glass beads in three dimensions. (Not to mention to get out of the Ohio winter weather for a few weeks!) In addition to bringing the primary lines of product - fancy and simple Venetian glass pendants, marcasite beads available in variety packs, and Swarovski crystal-set products - Andy often sells some vintage treasures from the warehouse, that customers won't find for sale on the Web site.

Minimum Wholesale Bead Orders

Fancy Beads is a wholesale business - selling to bead stores and select large-volume designers who resell the products. The minimum order is $150, in general. For established bead stores, there is no minimum order. To establish a business as a bead store, Fancy Beads requires proof of a retail store front, for orders under $150. A photograph of the storefront and a copy of a recent utility bill from the business serve to verify the business status. Fancy Beads' goal in maintaining this requirement is to thwart retail customers from "cutting out the middle man" - who is the Fancy Beads customer - the bead store.

Sales Tax

Because Fancy Beads is a wholesaler and its customers are bead stores and designers, who are reselling the products, Fancy Beads does not charge sales tax. If a purchase is not for resale, the customer is responsible for reporting and paying the appropriate sales tax to its local and/or state governments.
